New Site Aims to Make Green Living Easier in Charlottesville
Charlottesville, VA (Bluehost) January 8, 2008 -- An exciting new website has launched, offering practical as well as fun solutions to green living in the Charlottesville area.
With the recent green wave and information inundation surrounding global warming, betterworldbetty.com is a welcome breath of fresh virtual air. This website is the hub for sustainable, environmentally-friendly living. Betty's business directory and recycling, reducing, and reusing search tools are easy and innovative ways for Charlottesville and Albemarle residents to begin going green.
Susan McCulley, a Charlottesville resident and ACAC Nia instructor, says, "I simply can't wait until Better World Betty is up and running! There are so many things to consider when making 'green' choices and I look forward to a resource that can help me sort it all out!" Teri Kent, the founder, says "I'm thrilled that Betty is finally out there, helping to make a difference here in Charlottesville. Betty is not about being perfect. It's about being better. Small steps make big changes. And this site will help people do that." Dave Norris, Charlottesville City Councilman, had this to say about Teri: "(her) energy and positivity are infectious and I know (she) will make a great impact with (the) website."
The idea was born in March 2007 after a friend was wondering what to do with her dead household batteries rather than dumping them in the trash. Teri Kent found out and wanted a way to let others know. Better World Betty was born. "Many people ask me, why the name Betty? I wanted to reinvent the Betty of the 50s -- rather than tending to the kitchen, she tends the earth, helping people live lighter on the planet. I have a vision of Betty serving us a cleaner Earth, instead of a roast turkey (you many remember that old Rockwell painting). Betty is here to make green living easy. If you don't know where to take your old toaster, so it doesn't end up in the landfill, just ask Betty. She'll know."
